Subscription metrics and KPIs every Shopify merchant should track
Subscription metrics tell you whether recurring revenue is healthy — or quietly leaking. Vanity traffic metrics won’t show failed renewals, voluntary churn or expansion MRR.
Short answer: track MRR, churn (split voluntary/involuntary), failed-renewal rate, LTV:CAC and cohort retention weekly — then assign an owner to each spike.
Seven KPIs that matter
MRR / net revenue retention
Subscriber churn (logo and revenue)
Failed renewal rate (involuntary leading indicator)
Average revenue per subscriber
LTV and LTV:CAC
Pause / skip rate
Cohort retention curves
Deeper dashboard design: churn metrics dashboard.
How to use them without noise
One weekly ops review. Separate product issues from payment failures. Don’t drown in 40 charts.
Cleaner metrics with Checkivo
